Linda Linda LindaLinda Blair, who was only five in the year she was cast, had been conditioned to be on the radar. First as a child-model and later as an actor, she won the part as Regan the demonized girl out of 600 candidates, for The Exorcist, (1973). Linda Blair rose quickly to notoriety and was awarded the Golden Globe. She was scheduled to be awarded the Academy Award. But when news broke that some scenes were dubs and a stunt-dummy was filmed for eight seconds, that dream went down the drain. In the following years, Linda was not a problem securing the lead role in a range of movies, including the hugely successful TV films Born Innocent (1974) (the most watched TV show that year) as well as Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic (1975) along with an Exorcist sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). When she was pushed by her peers into buying cocaine when she was just of 18, it led to an arrest and subsequent sentencing to probation for three years. This highly-publicized drug bust led Linda to be blacklisted in Hollywood, and her profession was later reduced to B-movies with occasional appearances as a guest
